Metro Rail - Calder Park Vict 2014

When Vict Rail selected the Gerard Lighting team's innovative design for the Metro Calder Park Rail design, they knew they found the right solution. The brief was challenging and apart from the unique optical performance requirements, the project was also driven by a limited design and implementation delivery schedule..

In brief, the basic lighting requirements were;

  1. No exposed metal parts.
  2. Suspended at 5m on a catenary wire (insulated) for linear runs of over 300m each.
  3. Linkable units to facilitate easier maintenance with power supplies
  4. IP 67 and IK 10 with a UV stabilised material to meet the warranty period.
  5. Illumination was very particular with an average illumination of 20 lux and uniformity greater than 0.3.
  6. Extended warranty period (10 years)
  7. Utilising an LED light source

The end result was a design solution which exceeded all expectations, meeting the trial phase testing levels, uniformity criteria and critical train driver glare requirements.The overall outcome - an impressive, innovative and energy efficient lighting solution from the Gerard Lighting team.

The METRO can be adapted to suit many applications where conditions require a unique solution; ideally suited for tunnels, jetties, bridges, or any linear illumination application. for more information quotesvic@gerardlighting.com.au
